Bacchante, Gilt Bronze Sculpture by Pierre Le Faguays
A cold painted, gilt bronze sculpture by Pierre le Faguays (1892-1935). Depicting a bare breasted maiden in active dance pose holding aloft a thyrsus (a staff covered, or tipped in, ornamentation, and carried by Bacchus and his followers). Set onto a stepped marble plinth. Excellent original condition. Signed Le Faguays and marked for Etling foundry to marble. H.56.5cm. French, circa 1925.
