White & Barr Glasgow stick barometer
A Scottish Victorian mercury stick barometer. A well carved pediment and bevelled glass to the dial. The original vernier scale adjuster to the mahogany case and a mercury thermometer to the case middle with the original carved cistern cover to the base. The dial is signed White & Barr, Glasgow".
James White of Glasgow was in partnership with Barr from 1857-1859 and worked at Renfield Street and Gordon Street. He was an instrument maker to the University of Glasgow.
