William Alister MacDonald (1860-1956) – Westminster 1911
Watercolour painter of landscape, coastal and river scenes, including many views of London, where he lived. The son of a Scottish Free Church Minister, he exhibited in London from 1892 - 1936. He married Lucy Winifred Cary (the daughter of the artist William H. Cary) herself an artist of miniatures and a manageress of the Arlington Galleries in Bond Street, where he held two exhibitions. He traveled widely, particularly in the South Pacific, living at one time in Gaugin’s house in Tahiti.
