La Bohème

Lukáš Verner Medusa 2019
Cased Blown Glass, Height 25cm. Signed and Labelled.
£700
A truly monumental piece which weighs nearly 7kg, this work from the up and coming Czech designer Lukáš Verner demonstrates a wonderful ability to evoke a sea creature in all its delicacy and colour with such skill that one can hardly believe this is made in blown glass.
Jaroslava Drvotová Bulb Vase Exbor 1992
Blown Glass. Height 14.5 cm.
Price £150
This work is both informed by the past in its debt to the great designer Libenský but also to the future created as it was just as the Czech Republic was emerging as an independent country. The design combines the strong colour palette for which Exbor was famous with a riband decoration which is simple but highly effective.
Lukáš Jabůrek Grenade 2019
Opaline and Grey Faceted and Etched Glass, Height:15 cm. Signed. (1/1)
Price £ 700
Lukáš Jabůrek made his name as a designer for Moser and we are delighted to showcase this example of his latest work which features his trademark use of opaline glass encased within a faceted shell which is then hand etched to reveal the interplay between the two elements. Jabůrek likes to create work which eschews conventional horizontal and vertical positions and this piece can be displayed at numerous different angles offering a diverse range of perspectives to the piece.
Jaroslav Svoboda Stardust (2019)
Cased Sommerso Glass with Added Silicates Height 29.5cm. Signed and Labelled.
Price: £ 500
An eye-catching work by the Czech Republic’s most celebrated living post-war glassmaker who made his name in communist times as the Director of the Škrdlovice factory. Here the maestro matches his love of colour with the use of silicates to create glittering optical effects set within a classic cased form.
Karel Wunsch Orchid Vase Škrdlovice 1975
Blown Glass with Natural Mineral Coloration
Price £175
This marvellous piece of Modernist glass design was created in the middle of the Communist era and therefore had to have a function-in this case as an orchid vase complete with apertures for the plant’s roots. However, function in no way impairs the Wunsch’s concept of a satisfyingly rounded and monumental form which packs a real punch. Made at the Škrdlovice factory and dating from 1976.
Jaroslav Svoboda Salima Ocean 2019
Blown and Cut Glass. Dimensions 22 cm x 21.5 cm. Signed and Labelled
Price £350
This striking piece of contemporary design shows maestro Jaroslav Svoboda pushing the boundaries with a piece which is both playful and highly decorative balancing on a rounded bottom edge and in a triangular form with just enough coloration to add interest without being distracting to the viewer. A great designer’s piece.
