Thomas Marie Madawaska Hemy (1852-1937) watercolour ' Drying Cod on the Old Fish Quay at Whitby' DATE: 1875 Hemy was a marine painter, brother of Charles Napier Hemy and Bernard Benedict Hemy, and father of Miss G Hemy, all exhibiting artists. He was born on the 'Marie Madawaska', hence his unusual name. He studied at Newcastle Art School under Isaac Henzel and under Verlat in Antwerp.
