A rare Regency treat! Britain’s biggest ever exhibition of Derbyshire Blue John to be previewed at the Antiques for Everyone summer fair prior to auction.

A superb collection of Derbyshire Blue John goes on display at Antiques for Everyone, the UK's major summer antiques fair, held at the National Exhibition Centre from 23rd – 26th July. Showcased by Fellows Auctioneers, these are the core exhibits from what is believed to be the biggest single collection of Blue John prior to its auction in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter in October when over 250 lots will go on sale.

The collection includes some of the finest original Blue John pieces ever produced, several of them made by the renowned Regency manufacturer Matthew Boulton at his Birmingham factory. Regency Classicism is a visually rich style and was particularly popular between 1760 -1830. Amongst the lots ascribed to him is a rare ormolu-mounted three-branch candelabrum of great artistry using Blue John as its base with branches fashioned like lily stems. Another ormolu-mounted Blue John chalice is supported by three Egyptian caryatids, probably after a design by William Chambers, while a museum-quality ormolu-mounted Blue John urn and cover with typical Classical motifs, featuring scroll handles and acanthus leaf decoration so popular in this period, is yet another of his masterpieces.

The huge variety of items on display range in value from £30 to over £30,000 and the auction is expected to excite a great deal of interest from both the UK and overseas collectors and dealers.
